Blue Phoenix: The Art of Jon LeBleu

Blue Phoenix: the Art of Jon LeBleu
A Documentary Film by Jeff Thomason

A casually engaged documentary of Taos artist Jon LeBleu, presented mainly in his own words and in images of his art. The documentary portrays Jon LeBleu, a "mountain man," painter, sculptor and jewelry maker living in the stark and remote Three Peaks area outside of Taos, New Mexico. A long time figure in the Taos Two-Step community, LeBleu lives the independent life style of the "Mesa" in and around Taos. The documentary features the song John LeBleu's Ghost Dance Medicine Shirt, written by the Rifters, a band whose music he has frequently danced to in venues in and around Taos. LeBleu, phoenix like, has raised up a dwelling place, including a studio and gallery on the land where he has lived for decades. His unique spirit and vision as an “Abstract Symbolist” tells its own story of the triumph and thriving of the creative spirit.
